Power Through Your Storm

This morning while I was praying, my spiritual eyes were opened to just how magnificent God truly is. Now we all may read our bibles on the amazing accounts of our God, some of us may be regular church goers who have heard or seen His miracles at work in people's lives, and I'm sure everyone has heard about Jesus dying on the cross for our sins, but I wonder how many of us actually realize the power of our God through His sacrifice at Calvary.

During prayer it hit me that God's power was at its greatest not when He

created the world; as magnificently and effortlessly as He created the heavens and the earth, that didn't amount to what His majesty would later do. The grandeur of His power was not in the moments when He healed illnesses, though they were phenomenal miracles. No. God's power was shown the most when He manifested in the flesh and accepted to be arrested, beaten, spat on, ridiculed, crowned with thorns, crucified and left to die by the ones He loved. The God of the Universe, who could do anything and who gave life to the ones who killed Him, let humans torture Him so that they may live. Though our sins were heavy and the burdens were deep, He drank from His cup anyway. Can you imagine His last moments as He was separated from the Father who could not bear the sight of the sins He carried? His body exposed, beaten and bruised, sweat pouring down like water from a stream, His precious blood dripping from the hot-hard-wooden cross where He hung to the very ground He gave His children to walk on. Mighty as He was, He submitted, humbled Himself, controlled His power, and endured the pain. That ladies and gentlemen, that was ultimate power! It was sacrifice, selflessness, forgiveness, obedience, and most importantly it was love.

I wonder how many of us fail to realize that He has given us power through our circumstances... how many of us submit to sin because it's so tempting and we don't think we're strong enough to resist... how many of us would rather give up in times of trouble instead of going to the Father like Jesus did, that we may experience His glory when the trials are over... how many of us have been facing the same mountain because we don't want to surrender, forgive, obey, love, and pray as we endure the struggles of life. See we are not at our strongest when we put ourselves on a pedestal to be praised. We are at our strongest when the waves are against us and we still stand. When we have the power to hurt others yet we don't. When we would rather let God take control rather than ourselves. When we don't fear looking weak because we know what's within us is strong. We are at our strongest when the love in our hearts is greater than the hate of the world... that everyone, is how you power through your storm because it is then that God will give you the victory!
